The Dreaming: Stories about land, animals and people

The Dreaming, according to the Australian Government website, means to ‘see and understand the law’. We all heard about how aboriginal storytellers pass on their important knowledge, culture and belief systems to later generations. They use song, dance, painting and stories to express these dreams stories. All these stories demonstrate the close relationships between land, animals and people. They remind us we are all in a complex network of life forms, interacting constantly with one another.

While researching for my book Goddess Archetypes and the Heroine Journey, I came across this inspiring lecture by Joseph Campbell. In his lecture, he talked about the Native American Indian’s connection to our Mother Earth and the Chief Seattle’s letter to the governor in the 1800s. The letter has the most profound understanding of God in all Things.
